district derby day!!

    i have to say that as far as cub scouts go, William has really enjoyed being a part of it all!

but hands down his favorite part thus far has been the pine wood derby!!

 after taking first for the wolfs in his pack and second over all for his troop! (which was a glorious...GLORIOUS...day for him) he was over the moon excited for the chance to race again at district, and boy oh boy did he have high hopes!

  its a delicate line to walk when it comes to your children's dreams and prepping them for the cruel  pointy stick of reality that might burst that whimsical bubble which encases them....

 so we went in hopefully optimistic!!  with the goal to just have fun and enjoy his experience  and to know that it was an honor to have even qualified to be there at all!

 (tho he was pretty confidant that his car was gonna do awesome!)

.... and turns out he was right!!

William winning fist place in this district wolf race!

so districts went really well! he ended up placing 2nd over all the wolves! 

and he got a trophy and everything!

and a huge thank you to all the aunts and uncles and cousins who came to cheer him on! 

knowing you were there to support him and join in his excitement and victory meant a lot!

(so thank you again!)

and because he place in districts he was able to advance to the championships round!
where he didn't do half bad!!
at this point all the races were extremely close with in fractions of a second apart,
 and yet he still placed 2nd or 3rd in most of the heats! and ended up 11th place over all!
and the wolf that won 1st in districts against William  took home 1st over all!! so it was fun to watch! and even though will didn't get a championship trophy he didn't leave empty handed....

they were selling build your own derby Twinkies cars for a dollar!
Sooo... of course we HIT THAT UP!....

Twinkies body, mini Oreo wheels and smothered in the frosting paint color of their choice! 

yeah, all in all it was a pretty awesome day!
