"missed it by that much!"

yesterday was our wards primary program.
i have been biting my nails over this for weeks! completely terrified at how William was gonna react up on stage with a microphone in hand, free to say what ever he wants in front of the whole congregation! (those of you who know my son will understand the worry!)

so the week we got his line..."i am trying to be like Jesus by being kind" we tried to get him to repeat this... how ever after a bout 2 seconds of thought he turned to me and said "no! i don't want to be like Jesus! i want to be like Iron Man!" and that is what he continued to say despite my pleading, bribing and all other failed attempts to get him to comply!

so finally after Shawn and I, and the primary presidency gave up, we decided that we would just let him say i am trying to be kind.... with high hopes this would work!

SO, its show time! and only after a minor breakdown (for dad as we left him on the stand) it was finally his turn and all we could do was keep our fingers crossed as his teacher said in to the mic i am trying to be like Jesus by... then passing it to William....

William said loud and clear "ummm , i want to be... ummm, like Optimus Prime!!!"
(Shawn then turned to me and said "missed it by that much"(quoting get smart)
which made me laugh. dispite all the parents (who knew my situation) looked back at me! sigh...
luckily Optimus Prime and being kind sort of sound a like, so i am hoping it went mostly unnoticed or un-understood, how many people really know who Optimus Prime is any way?....

(it could have been worse!)
LOL!















but i will count it a victory non the less! he stayed up with his class, was quite, he didn't climb on the ledge or stand on his chair, and made relatively normal or happy faces the whole time! LOL YAY!!! and i am glad it is done!
