with William still upset i tried to distract him with some chocolate chips, which dried up the tears right away. (O the magic of chocolate!) but what he did next was so cute, he gets a zip lock bag and carefully places his wounded robot inside as well as 2 of his beloved chocolate chips! curious, i ask "what are you doing?" he says "he will be safe in the bag till dad gets home and the chocolate chips will make him feel better so he doesn't get hungry!" LOL! so that is where signal fire stayed, till dad came home... the chocolate chips however didn't make it that long!

lament for a wounded warrior!
William is not the kind of kid who cries a lot! so when i heard him bawling in his room, i ran just as fast as i could to see what was the matter! he was crouched over "signal fire" (one of the very first transformer toys we got for him.) as i ask him what was wrong he lifts him up into the air and says "he is broken! he has a crack!" now as i looked it over i could not see what he was talking about... so frustrated at my response of.. "no he is not broken he is just fine!" Will takes the robot and cries some more as he shows me a tiny little hair line fracture on it's shoulder! trying not to laugh at the mountain he had made out of this mole hill, i say "oh yes i see it now, you are right he is cracked, but he is still a good toy! you can still play with him!" to which William replies dad needs to fix him! so i say "dad is at work but you can show him when he gets home OK?"

Oh my word, that is so adorable! It's so sweet, the things children get so sincerely upset over that seem so minor to us. It makes me wonder, sometimes, if we seem that way to Heavenly Father. Does He secretly smile down on us, when we're crying over something that's really much more trivial than we realize?
